How to Configure an SSH Key on a New Server

In this tutorial, you will learn how to configure an SSH on a new server during the server setup process. We will review how to configure SSH access to the server, how to create keys and how to configure a private key on the client machine.
An SSH connection allows a device to establish an encrypted connection to a remote server through port 22. This makes it possible to manage the server remotes through the command prompt. This tutorial will explain how to configure an SSH connection for remote server administration.

Before you begin​:

To successfully complete this tutorial, you will need:
  • To be registered on the Jotelulu platform and have signed in using your username and password.
  • Have administrator permissions and permissions to create servers.
  • To be in the process of deploying a server as part of your Servers subscription.

Step 1. Configure an SSH key during the server setup process

The final step of the Server creation process is entitled “Name” (1). At this point, enter the name (2) that you wish to give to the server and click on the ‘+’ symbol below “Choose an SSH Key” (3).

A window will open asking for a name for the SSH key (4). Next, select Generate a New Key (5) and click on Add (6).

Next, a window will open showing the private key. You should copy and save this key now because you will not be able to see it again later. Once you have done this, click on Confirm (7).

The platform will now return to the final step of the server creation process. Here, you will now have the option to select the SSH key that you have just created (8). Then, click on Create Server (9).

Now that you have created the server, you will be able to connect to it using an SSH connection.
