In this tutorial, you will learn how to configure an SSH on a new server during the server setup process. We will review how to configure SSH access to the server, how to create keys and how to configure a private key on the client machine.
An SSH connection allows a device to establish an encrypted connection to a remote server through port 22. This makes it possible to manage the server remotes through the command prompt. This tutorial will explain how to configure an SSH connection for remote server administration.
How to configure an SSH key on an existing server?
Before you begin:
To successfully complete this tutorial, you will need:
- To be registered on the Jotelulu platform and have signed in using your username and password.
- Have administrator permissions and permissions to create servers.
- To have previously deployed a serveras part of your Servers subscription.
Step 1. Open the SSH Keys section on the Servers subscription page
From the main dashboard, click on the top of the Servers card (1).

Click on the SSH Keys section (2) on the left-hand menu.

Next, click on Create SSH Key (3).

On the next page, you will first need to give your new SSH key a name (4). Then, select Generate a New Key (5), choose the server to activate the key on (6) and clickContinue (7).
Step 2. Register the SSH key
A window will then appear informing you that activating the SSH key will require the server to be restarted and generate a new password. Click on Confirm (8).

At this point, the server will restart and generate SSH keys and a new password.
A few moments later, another window will appear displaying the private key. You should copy and save this key as you will not be able to see it again later. Once you have saved the key, click on Confirm (9).

Next, another window will appear with a new generated password. Copy and save this password and click on Confirm (10).
