How to Register a Remote Desktop on Jotelulu

In this tutorial, you will learn how to add the Jotelulu remote desktop in just a few simple steps. Just subscribe to the service, configure your settings and you are ready to go.

For many companies, being able to remotely access their applications on a secure work environment is a huge advantage. With the Jotelulu remote desktop, you will be able to ensure that users can access all the programmes they need from any location and any device.

 

How to register a remote desktop​?

 

Before you begin

To successfully complete this tutorial, you will need:

  • To be registered on the Jotelulu platform and have signed in using your username and password.
  • To have an organisation with users that you can link to the remote desktop and any applications. If you need more information about how to register users, have a look at the tutorial entitled: How to Register Users on Jotelulu.

Step 1. Creating and naming your remote desktop subscription

From the main dashboard (in the example, the dashboard is empty), either click on“Service” (1) on the top menu, the “New Service” button on the right (2) or the “Add Service” card (3). Then, choose the Remote Desktop service.

Once you have selected the Remote Desktop service, click on the “Start” button (4).

First, enter a name for the subscription (5). This will be the name that appears on the dashboard and on your invoices, so make sure it is easily identifiable. Then, click “Continue” (6).

Step 2. Configuring the remote desktop

Once you have named your remote desktop subscription, you will need to select the users (7) who will have access to this service. Once you have done this, click “Next” (8) to continue.

Once you have confirmed which users will have access to the remote desktop service, you will need to choose a connection method (9) for each user. They have the option of connecting using either the Applications Launchpad or the Virtual Desktop. Then, you will need to set the permissions for each user (User or Administrator) (10).

Next, you will need to set the maximum number of users that can have an open session at any one time (11).

Next,  select the applications from the Marketplace that you need to install on the remote desktop (12). If you need to install applications that are not available on the Marketplace, you will need to do this later following a different procedure (to find out more, see the tutorial entitled: How to Install Any Application on Your Remote Desktop).

The next step will be to link the registered users (13) to the applications (14) that they need access to. Simply click first on the user and then on the application(s) that they require.

The platform will then recommend a server configuration based on the number of users and applications you have selected. If you wish to choose a different configuration, click on “Choose Another Configuration” (15). If you are happy with the recommended configuration, click the “Save” button (16) to create and configure your service.

At this point, your remote desktop will be automatically configured. This is a lengthy process that involves multiple tasks, such as creating virtual machines, creating new users and installing applications. As a result, the entire process can take between 15 and 20 minutes. Even if the remote desktop card is visible on the dashboard, it is still possible that the service is not yet available. Please wait patiently, and your service will soon be up and running.

Once the process is complete, the platform will send an e-mail to the users who have been registered for the service. This e-mail will contain the information they need to begin using the remote desktop.

From the main dashboard, click on the remote desktop card. In the bottom left-hand corner, there will be a link providing access to your applications (https://portal.jotelulu.com).

As long as they have an internet connection, any registered user can now access the remote desktop and their applications simply by clicking on this link.
