How to Customise the User Portal and Notifications for All Your Customers in the Partner Area

Jotelulu Partners have the option to customise the user portal and notifications for all their customers. In this tutorial, you will find out how to do this in just three simple steps.

One of the most important features of the Partner Area is our ‘white label’ option. Since it is the Jotelulu Partner who is offering a service to the end customer, we believe that the service should carry the partner’s branding and image. To do this, the Partner Area contains a section where you can customise the user portal and notifications so that all customers see the same branding.

How to customise the user portal and notifications in the Partner Area

Before you begin:

To successfully complete this tutorial and customise the user portal and automatic notifications, you will need:

  • To be registered on the Jotelulu Platform, have signed in using your username and password, and have been accepted as a Jotelulu Partner.
  • An imagelogofavicon and colour that you wish to use to customise the portal and notifications.
  • IMPORTANT: Once you make customisations in the Partner Area, these changes will apply to every new subscription registered for any of your customers, as well as any existing subscriptions that had not been previously customised. Any customer-specific modifications will prevail over general changes made in the Partner Area. For example, if the user portal and notifications have been customised for one specific customer (see the tutorial entitled: How to Customise the Jotelulu User Portal and Automatic Notifications), this will prevail over any general changes made in the Partner Area.

Features that can be changed on the user portal:

Before going into detail about how to customise the user portal, it may be useful to identify the features that can be changed.

Now you have seen which featurescan be customised, this will hopefully give you an idea of what customers will see once the changes have been made.

Step 1. Access the Customisation section in the Partner Area

Once you have signed into the platform, you can customise the portal and automatic notifications for all customers by clicking on “Partner Area” (1) on the top menu.

Step 1. Access the Partner Area using the top menu

Once in the Partner Area, click on “Customisation” (2) on the left-hand menu.
Step 1. Access the Customisation section in the Partner Area

Once you have entered the Customisation section, a message will appear asking whether you wish to customise the user portal and notifications using your own branding or keep the default Jotelulu appearance. Choose the option “Customise using my own branding” (3). A warning will appear (4) informing you that this change will affect all customers who have not been individually customised. Click “Continue”.

Step 1. Select the option to customise the image to begin the process

Next, two tabs will appear. These tabs will allow you to customise:

  • First, the user portal.
  • Second, the automatic notifications sent to users.

Click on the USER PORTAL tab (5) to expand it and begin customising the user portal.

Step 2. Customising the appearance of the user portal

Once the tab has expanded, you will see all the fields that can be modified.

Step 2. Features that can be customised on the user portal

Start by entering the title and description (6) that you want to be shown on the user’s web browser.

Step 2. Change the title and description that appear on the web browser

Once you have entered the title and description, you now have the option to upload a background imagelogo and favicon. You can also set the main colour (7) for the features on the portal (buttons, text and icons).

Step 2. Customise the user portal with your own image, logo and colours

Once you have customised the appearance of the user portal, you will need to change the access URL (8). If the DNS zone is registered on the Jotelulu platform, a CNAME record will be automatically created so that the new URL will work correctly. If the DNS zone was not registered on Jotelulu, you will need to create a specific CNAME record on your DNS that points to portal.jotelulu.com.

Step 2. Customise the user portal URL

Once you have set the URL, you can now configure the digital certificate. If you have a certificate, simply click on “Upload my own certificate”and add your certificate, private key and PEM file (9).

Step 2. Upload a digital certificate to customise the user portal URL

If you do not have a certificate, simply click on “Generate Let’s Encrypt certificate” (10) and take note of the records to create on the DNS once you have clicked on “Save” (11).
Step 2. Customise the user portal URL using the Let’s Encrypt option

Once you have completed all these steps, you will have successfully customised the appearance of the user portal. From now on, all your customers will access their services through a user portal displaying your company’s branding.

Step 3. Customising automatic notifications

Once the tab is expanded, you will see two sections:

  • Sending mode, permite elegir la cuenta de correo que enviará las notificaciones automáticas:
    • Send from: notificaciones@jotelulu.com.
    • Send from a specific e-mail account (through the Jotelulu e-mail servers). To do this, enter the new sender e-mail address (13) and the name that you want to be displayed (14). To ensure that notifications are sent correctly, you will need to activate SPF and DKIM. The process for doing this will be shown once the changes have been saved.

Step 3. Customising the e-mail address and name used to send notifications

  • Appearance of notifications.: permite modificar el aspecto de los correos a enviar, pudiéndose elegir:
    • The default Jotelulu e-mail template(15)
Step 3. Keeping the original appearance of e-mails sent by the platform (Jotelulu Template)

    • customised e-mail template. With this option, you can change the name of the organisation (16) that appears in the SUBJECT field, the header colour (17) and the e-mail signature (18).
Note: We recommend making the header colour white so that it always goes well with the company logo.
Once all changes have been made, click on the “Save” button (19).
Step 3. Customise the appearance of e-mails sent by the platform

Your changes will now have been saved. The platform will now show instructions for checking that e-mail notifications display correctly.
