How to Establish an SSH Connection to a GNU/Linux Server from Windows

Step 1. Configure the private key on the Windows client

On the Windows client machine, open the programme PuTTYgen and select File Load private key (1).

A window will open in which you will need to select the file with the private key provided in the previous step.
Once loaded, click Save private key (2) and save the generated .ppk file.

For Windows systems, open PuTTY and enter the server IP address in the Host Name field (3) and then enter the Port number (4). Next, click on Auth (5).

Lastly, enter the root password, press Enter and you will be connected to the server.
