In this tutorial, you will learn how to manage your remote desktop. You will find out how to monitor the service, edit users and install applications.
The Jotelulu remote desktop is an easy service to set up and manage that allows users to run all their day-to-day applications from any device or location using a simple URL.
Quick Start Guide for Administrators. How to manage the remote desktop service?
Before we begin:
Before we look at the remote desktop, it is important to mention that subscribing to the remote desktop service actually involves subscribing to two services at the same time (for more information, see the tutorial entitled: How to Add the Remote Desktop). Each of these subscriptions will have a card on the initial dashboard, and they are:
- Remote Desktop Subscription: this is where you can manage users, set permissions, choose connections methods, add applications and manage licences.
- Servers Subscription: this is where you can carry out any server-related tasks, such as expansions, resets, firewall tasks, backups, etc.
Cards shown on the dashboard once the remote desktop has been added.
If you click on the Remote Desktop card, you will see a “Summary” section that shows an overview of the service and a number of other subsections.
Overview of the Remote Desktop section:
Have close control over all service users:
The Users section allows you to monitor user activity and manage their settings, including their connection method and their permissions.
Manage, install and publish any application on your remote desktop:
The Applications section is where you can install, manage and assign applications on your remote desktop. For more information about installing applications on the remote desktop, have a look at the tutorial entitled: How to Install Any Application on Your Remote Desktop.
Determine the maximum number of simultaneous users:
Decide how many licences you need to set the number of users that can connect to the remote desktop at any one time.
Easy user access:
Once they are registered, users can access the remote desktop at any time. All they need is the URL and their sign-in details.
Summary and next steps:
Adding a remote desktop subscription actually involves adding two subscriptions (remote desktop and server). By clicking on the remote desktop card on the main dashboard, you can easily manage user access, permissions, applications and licences.
