We understand that some companies really appreciate being able to keep their own branding for the services that they offer. Therefore, being able to change the way services are presented can be very important. That is why Jotelulu’s services are “white label” services.
In this tutorial, you will find out how to customise the Jotelulu user portal and the appearance of automatic notifications sent to users. You can do all this in just three simple steps.
How to customise the Jotelulu user portal and automatic notifications
Before you begin:
To successfully complete this tutorial and customise the user portal, you will need:
- To be registered with an organisation on the Jotelulu platform and have signed in with your username and password.
- To have signed up to a remote desktop subscription, have a cloud file storage subscription or have added any other subscription for which there are registered users and which requires the portal for access.
- An image, logo, favicon and colour that you wish to use to customise the user portal.
Features that can be changed on the user portal:
Before going into detail about how to customise the user portal, it may be useful to identify the features that can be changed.
- On the user portal:
- For notifications sent from the platform:
Now that you know what can be changed, we will look at how to change each of these features.
Step 1. Access the Customisation section
Once you have signed into the platform, click on “Organisation” (1) on the top menu.
Once in the Organisation section, click on “Customisation” (2) on the left-hand menu.
In the Customisation section, you will see two tabs. These tabs allow you to customise:
- The user portal.
- The automatic notifications sent by the platform.
Click on the USER PORTAL tab (3) to expand it and begin customising the user portal.
Step 2. Customising the User Portal
The USER PORTAL tab will expand to display all the different features that can be modified.
Begin by entering the title and description (4) that you want to be displayed on the user’s web browser.
Once you have entered the title and description, you now have the option to upload a background image, logo and favicon. You can also set the main colour (5) for the features on the portal (buttons, text and icons).
Once you have customised the appearance of the user portal, you will need to change the access URL (6). If the DNS zone is registered on the Jotelulu platform, a CNAME record will be automatically created so that the new URL will work correctly. If the DNS zone was not registered on Jotelulu, you will need to create a specific CNAME record on your DNS that points to portal.jotelulu.com.
Once you have set the URL, you can now configure the digital certificate. If the company in question has a certificate, simply click on “Upload my own certificate” and add the Certificate, private key and PEM file (7).
Step 3. Customising automatic notifications
The Jotelulu platform will send users various notifications from time to time. These notifications can also be customised. To do this, click on the E-MAIL tab (10) in the Customisation section.
Once the tab is expanded, you will see two sections:
- Sending mode, This allows you to choose the e-mail account used to send automatic notifications:
-
- Send from: notificaciones@jotelulu.com.
- Send from a specific e-mail account (through the Jotelulu e-mail servers). To do this, enter the new sender e-mail address (11) and the name that you want to be displayed (12). To ensure that notifications are sent correctly, you will need to activate SPF and DKIM. The process for doing this will be shown once the changes have been saved.
- Appearance of notifications. This allows you to modify the appearance of e-mails sent by the platform, using either:
- The default Jotelulu e-mail template (13)
-
- A customised e-mail template. With this option, you can change the name of the organisation (14) that appears in the SUBJECT field, the header colour (15) and the e-mail signature (16).
Note: We recommend making the header colour white so that it always goes well with the company logo.
- A customised e-mail template. With this option, you can change the name of the organisation (14) that appears in the SUBJECT field, the header colour (15) and the e-mail signature (16).
Summary and next steps:
The Jotelulu platform allows any company to customise the appearance of the user portal and notifications. In this tutorial, you have learnt how this can be done in just a few steps. However, it is possible that you want to continue customising specific services, such as the remote desktop. If so, take a look at the tutorial entitled: Customising the Remote Desktop.
